Do you know those people that feel stuck? Those people that go to work each day to a job they just don’t enjoy? Those people with a dream and a passion, but they feel like their financial position is keeping them from chasing after something awesome? I help those people
This is my personal blog. I write about money, budgeting, debt, investing, careers, and how all of those things relate to our family and our personal life. Sometimes I get a whim to write about something that doesn’t neatly fit into one of those categories. My intent is to be insightful, relevant, and to bring some humor and practicality to what can otherwise be a difficult topic to discuss.
I try to deliver practical application steps as well as inspiration that you can put in place for your personal finances. If you have a dream, struggle with money, are awesome with money, or just want to learn more then this is the site for you.
I usually post on the blog two to three times a week and there is at least one new podcast episode each week released on Thursdays.
You should subscribe to the blog here so you’ll never miss an update and I’ll also give you a free copy of The 30 Days to Better Money eBook.
If you like the content you see on the site and hear on the podcast, consider supporting the creation of even better work on my Patreon Page and help me continue to create great content that helps people.
If you need help with money I have several ways we can work together. There’s one on one coaching, group coaching sessions, small business coaching, books, articles, and the podcast. Don’t let money keep you from asking for help. This business exists to help people with their finances so if you need help and don’t think you can afford my services, please reach out to me. I’ll find a way to help.
My Background
I once went broke.
I made stupid decisions with money and even though I had a fantastic income it put me in a severe hole financially. When my wife and I both lost jobs within 30 days of each other we nearly went bankrupt.
I studied Biblical Studies at Dallas Baptist University, where I also met my wife Sara.
Needing income I took the first job that became available as a car salesman. I made a significant income and was highly successful by the worlds standards, but inside I felt something missing. I worked all the time and missed having dinner with my wife on a regular basis.
I left the auto industry and went to work for a local credit union. While there I learned the ins and outs of banking practices, credit, debt, and loan processes. Still I felt like something was lacking. I leveraged a client relationship into landing me a job helping small businesses develop advertising and marketing plans. I was highly successful and began to climb the corporate ladder.
When the stock market and real estate market both crashed though, my new company laid off 40% of its workforce. I was devastated and didn’t know what to do next. I found a career in residential real estate and used that to help dig out of a financial hole that had been built over the last several years.
I made wiser choices and paid off thousands of dollars in debt and went through a serious “shrinking down” period in my lifestyle. People noticed and began asking for help. That’s how this blog and my company started.
I wrote Impact as a guide to help my clients get out of debt and look at the big picture of how personal finance plays into all aspects of our lives. I’ve since written several other small eBooks and hundreds of articles on personal finance.
I have been married to Sara since 2006, we’ve been dating since 2004. We have an almost 8 year old son and almost 4 year old daughter. We live just outside of Ft. Worth, TX in a small suburb called Mansfield.
In my free time, I enjoy golfing, writing, reading, playing bass guitar, and hanging out with my family. I am a member of The Church on Rush Creek where I have played in the worship band for 12 years.
